Hi, I'm Diane — Travel Writer and Advisor

I’m a travel writer, travel advisor, registered nurse, and lifelong believer that some of the best memories begin with a a plan and a suitcase.

Checking In with Diane grew from my love of travel—especially cruising—and my equally strong belief that planning a great trip involves much more than simply choosing a destination.

 

After eight Norwegian Cruise Line sailings, along with experiences aboard Disney Cruise Line and Carnival Cruise Line, along with countless land-based getaways, I realized just how much I had learned along the way—and how many things I wish someone had told me before my first cruise. As a certified Fora Travel Advisor, I now have the opportunity to help other travelers plan those experiences with a little more knowledge and a lot less guesswork.

 

But I also love the story behind the trip.

 

Long before becoming a nurse, I earned a bachelor's degree in Professional & Technical Writing. Checking In with Diane brings those parts of my life together: writing, travel, research, healthcare, and a genuine curiosity about what makes a travel experience worth recommending.

Here, I share practical travel advice, firsthand experiences, cruise and destination insights, hotel stays, and the little details that can make a surprisingly big difference in a vacation. My nursing background also gives me a unique perspective on topics that aren't always part of the traditional travel conversation—from mobility and accessibility to health, comfort, and planning for travelers whose needs may extend beyond finding the perfect itinerary.

As a travel advisor, I help clients navigate those same decisions personally, from selecting the right cruise, resort, or destination to creating a trip that fits the people actually taking it.
